WHY SHE IS AMAZING: Drawing inspiration from Lebanese culinary traditions and elsewhere, Lena creates one-of-a-kind New American pastries. She knew at a very young age that she wanted to be a chef.. She began enrolling in culinary workshops while still in high school and went straight to culinary school upon high school graduation. She is currently the head of the pastry program at the Selden Standard. Once she puts a dish on the menu, she will never repeat it again irrespective of the number of emails she receives from guests requesting a particular item. Next year, Lena plans to help the owners of Selden Standard open a new restaurant concept and will oversee both pastry programs. Additionally, she hosts pop-up dinners where guests purchase tickets and enjoy a multi-course tasting menu designed exclusively by her. This allows her to push herself creatively and gives her the ability to experiment with savory dishes which she typically does that have the opportunity to do so as a Pastry Chef. Lena was selected as an Eater Young Gun in 2018 and is a two-time James Beard Rising Star Chef of the Year semifinalist.
