WHY SHE IS AMAZING: Reem Assil is the owner of Reem’s California, a restaurant and bakery specializing in Arab street food made with California love. In 2018, she opened her second restaurant in partnership with Daniel Patterson's Alta Group called Dyafa. Dyafa which is Arabic for hospitality showcases the breadth and depth of Arab cuisine and culture. Reem was named a James Beard Foundation Best Chef: West semi-finalist, Thrillist's 2018 Chef of the Year, San Francisco Magazine’s 2018 Chef of the Year, and San Francisco Chronicle's 2017 Rising Star Chef. Reem’s California was named one of Food & Wine’s 2018 Top 10 Restaurants of the Year and Dyafa was also included on the 2018 Michelin Bib Gourmand List.
