Junior Merino is best known as the Liquid Chef, his passion and talent to combine art while indulging the senses leads into his appropriately titled slogan, 'Taste the Art, Drink with All Your Senses'.
Moving to New York from Mexico at age 16, Merino started at his family's bakery in the Bronx. He quickly went from baker to busboy to cook to bartender and eventually the beverage manager at Roth's Westside Steakhouse, all while attending high school and studying English and graphic design. It was at Roth's that Merino had the opportunity to put together his first wine and cocktail list, which won an award of excellence from Wine Spectator. Already a confirmed natural, Merino was officially initiated into the Court of Master Sommeliers.
In 2005, Merino won first place in the International Bar Show with his 'Coming Up Roses' cocktail. This would spearhead his career to create signature cocktails and lists for restaurants and bars around the world, including New York's Rayuela, The Modern, ANA Hotel Tokyo and Hilton Los Cabos Mexico.
The founding of his company, The Liquid Chef, Inc. was a natural transition to focus on cocktail consulting, events and licensing. Since 2006, he has managed to build a global empire in the mixology industry by successfully implementing cocktail programs and building diverse partnerships, along with collaborations with Mexicana Airlines, Walt Disney World’s Epcot Center, Celebrity Cruise's Solstice Class, Libby’s and Symrise. Merino has successfully conquered land, air, and sea.
