WHY HE IS OUR ICONOCLAST NEXTGEN: When Kwame was twenty he was driven to become a chef. Without funding to realize his goal Kwame began selling candy on a train to raise money for a catering business which subsequently helped to finance is formal culinary education. After experience in two of Manhattan’s most iconic restaurants; Per Se and Eleven Madison Park, Kwame has ventured out to our nation’s capital to open his own restaurant, The Shaw Bijou. Scheduled to open in 2016, The Shaw Bijou has been listed as one of Washington D.C’s most anticipated openings by Eater, MSN and Zagat. Kwame was a Bravo’s Top Chef season 13 cheftestant and an inaugural member of Zagat DC’s 30 Under 30 as a “rock star redefining the industry”.
