Born and raised in Los Angeles, Executive Pastry Chef Susan Bae is a 2024 + 2025 James Beard Foundation Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker Finalist and a member of the Foundation’s Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Series. Her work has been featured in The Washington Post, Cherry Bombe, and Pastry Arts Magazine. Susan is a founding team member of Moon Rabbit which was named as one of Esquire’s 2022 Best New Restaurants and a 2024 New York Times “America’s Best Restaurant”. Known for imaginative, nature and nostalgia-inspired desserts, she reimagines traditional flavors with cutting-edge techniques and a love for texture. A former aspiring teacher, she mentors with intention and leads an all-female pastry team at Moon Rabbit, ensuring every cook has a voice. She actively supports causes including World Central Kitchen, Chefs Stopping AAPI Hate, and House of Ruth.
