Makayla Ponce is a California-born, Houston-raised chef with eight years of diverse culinary experience. She began her career at the Four Seasons Hotel, where she spent five formative years refining her technique, discipline, and understanding of fine dining. Her journey continued as a sous chef and later as a personal chef—roles that allowed her to expand her creativity and versatility while adapting to a wide range of ingredients, styles, and palates.
Now a chef partner at Alora in Montrose, Makayla is celebrated for her adaptability, intuitive approach to flavor, and ability to quickly master new ingredients and techniques. Her culinary style is rooted in connection—blending personal heritage, seasonal inspiration, and global influences. For Makayla, food is more than a profession; it is a powerful form of storytelling and cultural expression.
